Moiz's work explores the historical and philosophical foundations of constitutionalism and sovereignty, with a focus on South Asia. He examines how movements like Hindutva and Islamism have redefined constitutional principles in postcolonial India and Pakistan, challenging traditional notions of civic nationalism and secularism.
His doctoral dissertation analyzed India's reinterpretation of constituent power in mid-20th-century debates on democracy, caste, religion, and political association. He is expanding this into a monograph on law, sovereignty, and constitutionalism in modern India.
Current research includes the project Legalizing Sovereignty in South Asian Constitutionalism, part of the Bonavero Institute's Law and Democracy Network. He also contributes commentary to blogs and dailies on law, history, and politics.
- Award:
- Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship (2023)
