Moira C. Long serves as Professor of Physical Education in the Department of Physical Education and Health Education at Springfield College's School of Physical Education, Performance and Sport Leadership, while concurrently holding the position of Head Women's Volleyball Coach within Athletics.

Her academic work centers on the sociology of sport, athletic heritage and values, and advanced coaching methodologies, deeply rooted in Springfield College's Humanics philosophy which emphasizes educating the whole person in spirit, mind, and body for service leadership. This integrative approach bridges theoretical frameworks with practical athletic development.
Professor Long has demonstrated significant professional leadership through her two terms as Chair of the NCAA National Volleyball Committee (2004-2008, 2016-2021), influencing national collegiate volleyball standards and governance.
As Head Women's Volleyball Coach, she directs all aspects of the competitive program while mentoring student-athletes in both athletic performance and personal growth, embodying the institution's commitment to holistic development through sport.
