Dr. Mohammod Ali is a Professor and Department Chair of Electrical Engineering at the University of South Carolina's Molinaroli College of Engineering and Computing. He specializes in antenna design, wireless power transfer, and electromagnetic materials. Previously, he served as a Program Director at the National Science Foundation (NSF) under an IPA assignment. His academic career includes a sabbatical at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and industrial experience at Ericsson Inc.
Dr. Ali holds a B.Sc. from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (1987), and M.A.Sc./Ph.D. from the University of Victoria (1994/1997). His research is funded by agencies like ARO, AFRL, DOE, NSF, and has produced over 200 publications, 8 patents, and 23 graduated students (12 Ph.D.).
His research interests focus on conformal antennas for aerospace, wireless power/sensing systems, reconfigurable mmWave antennas for IoT, and metamaterial applications. He has received prestigious awards including the NSF Career Award and Samuel Litman Distinguished Professorship.
Dr. Ali's work includes developing novel antenna structures (e.g., MEMS-reconfigurable patches, 3D-printed RF components), non-invasive cable fault detection systems, and energy harvesting solutions. His patents cover antenna designs and sensor technologies for industrial and medical applications.
