Guoan Wang is a Professor and Graduate Director in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of South Carolina's Molinaroli College of Engineering and Computing. His research focuses on advanced RF/Microwave/mmwave systems, including MEMS components, tunable devices, ferroelectric/ferromagnetic thin films, 3D IC integration, sensors, and 3D printing. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology (2006).
His research interests span smart RF systems, reconfigurable components, and advanced manufacturing technologies. Notable contributions include tunable microwave phase shifters, bio-implantable sensors, and nano-patterned thin film integration. His work has been recognized through over 20 patents and prestigious awards like the IEEE Region 3 Outstanding Engineer Award (2018) and NSF CAREER Award (2012).
Prof. Wang teaches courses ranging from foundational topics (Signals & Systems, Electromagnetics) to advanced subjects like RF Circuit Design and Microwave Devices. He has advised numerous graduate students and holds adjunct roles as Associate Editor for IEEE Microwave Letters and Guest Editor for IEEE Access.
