Dr. Mohammad Talaei is a Lecturer in Life Course Epidemiology at Queen Mary University of London’s Wolfson Institute of Population Health, within the Centre for Preventive Neurology. He holds an MD from Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, an MPH from the University of Birmingham, and a PhD from the National University of Singapore. His research focuses on the etiology of diseases rooted in early life exposures, leveraging large-scale cohort studies. Key areas include dietary influences on cardiometabolic diseases, asthma, and cognitive function, with a particular interest in gene-diet interactions. He contributed to the Isfahan Cohort Study (ICS) as Director and co-PI, and co-founded the COVIDENCE-UK study to investigate SARS-CoV-2. His work bridges developmental origins of health and disease, cardiovascular traits, and neurocognitive outcomes.

Research Interests: Dr. Talaei investigates shared developmental origins of lung function, cardiovascular traits, and Alzheimer’s Disease. His recent work includes studies on air pollution, long COVID, and vitamin D supplementation’s effects on respiratory infections.
Publications: His recent studies highlight dietary influences on respiratory and metabolic health, longitudinal cohort analyses of cardiovascular risks, and methodological innovations in risk modeling. Notable collaborations include the Singapore Chinese Health Study and the ROLO trial.
Teaching & Service: He teaches epidemiology modules in Global Public Health courses and edits the International Journal of Epidemiology. His work integrates clinical medicine, public health, and preventive neurology to address chronic disease prevention.
