Mohammad Reza Salami is an Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering at the University of Birmingham's School of Engineering, affiliated with the FutureStructures Research Group. He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Bristol (2017) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (2020).
His research focuses on experimental and computational modeling of structures, particularly dynamic performance of reinforced concrete and timber structures, post-earthquake aftershock effects, and structural health monitoring. He also contributes to engineering education research emphasizing equality, diversity, and inclusion. Previously, he worked on the Suramadu Bridge project at the University of Warwick and served as course leader for the MSc in Civil Engineering at Birmingham City University.
Teaching responsibilities include Advanced Structures and Design (MSc), Forensic Engineering (MSc), and Structural Engineering II (Undergraduate). He supervises MSc and PhD students and welcomes applications in his research areas.
