Dr. Mohammad Bagher Ghasemian is a Research Fellow in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Sydney, and a visiting Research Fellow at UNSW Sydney. He holds an MSc in Analytical Chemistry from the Iran University of Science and Technology (2011) and a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from UNSW Sydney (2018). His research focuses on liquid metals for synthesizing functional materials like nanostructures and 2D materials, with applications in photocatalysis, sensing, piezoelectricity, flexible electronics, optics, and electronics. He is affiliated with the Sydney Nano Institute and has collaborated with institutions like POSTECH (South Korea) and CASLEO in Australia.
His research interests span liquid metal-based synthesis techniques, material doping, and applications in energy, sensors, and nanoelectronics. Recent work includes studies on liquid metal doping in 2D oxides, bismuth-based oxide synthesis, and flexible CO₂ sensors. Dr. Ghasemian advises one current PhD student, Hebah AL-FAYYAD, on green hydrogen production via photocatalysis.
Key contributions include advancements in liquid metal composites for electronics, nanoporous metal design, and mechanochemical CO₂ conversion. His articles emphasize interdisciplinary approaches, blending materials science with nanotechnology and applied physics.
