Yichao Wang is an ARC Future Fellow and Associate Professor at RMIT University, developing advanced nanomaterials for energy and environmental applications. His research focuses on 2D piezoelectric systems, photocatalytic hydrogen production, waste conversion technologies, and nanobionic plant sensors. As lead chief investigator on ARC Discovery and synchrotron beamline projects, he pioneers nanomaterial synthesis for sustainable energy solutions.
Recent innovations include liquid-metal-derived 2D oxides, plasmon-enhanced photocatalysts, and tire-derived carbon electrodes. With over 80 publications in Advanced Materials and ACS Nano, his work integrates materials chemistry, nanotechnology, and environmental engineering. Current projects investigate nanoparticle-enhanced plant growth and novel electrocatalysts for plastic waste upcycling.
