Dr. Mohammad Alsuwaidi serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth Science at Khalifa University, leveraging over 15 years of integrated industry and academic expertise in carbonate sedimentary geology to advance hydrocarbon reservoir research and education.
His academic credentials include:
- Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Geosciences, Khalifa University
- Professional Masters in Petroleum Reservoir Systems, Colorado School of Mines, USA
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Geology and Geological Engineering, Colorado School of Mines, USA
Research centers on carbonate sedimentology and reservoir characterization, with critical investigations into micritization processes in Abu Dhabi's intertidal zones and Quaternary sea-level dynamics. His work bridges diagenesis, stratigraphy, and geochemistry to decode porosity evolution in ancient carbonate reservoirs and predict coastal responses to climate change.
Dr. Alsuwaidi mentors five PhD students: Abdulquadri Olalekan Alabere, Hind Yahya Sulieman, Lolita Herman Marheni, Tianyu Cao, and Xiaolan Jia. He leads two major funded projects: CIRA 2021-013 (studying Abu Dhabi's carbonate terrains as a 'natural micritization laboratory') and RIG-2023-061 (using Late Quaternary sea-level archives to model future UAE coastal evolution).
His research team, including Visiting Research Assistant Roshan Dinesh and PhD candidates, conducts field-based studies across the Arabian Gulf coastline, integrating sedimentological analysis with biogeochemical modeling to address energy and environmental challenges.
