Mohammad-Ali Jenabian is an Associate Professor at the Department of Biological Sciences, University of Quebec in Montreal, and holder of the Canada Research Chair in Immuno-Virology since 2016. His research focuses on HIV immunopathogenesis, particularly the molecular mechanisms of regulatory T-cell (Treg) plasticity and mucosal immune responses.
- Education: DMV (2003), PhD in Virology (2009) from Pierre and Marie Curie University, Paris
- Postdoctoral training: INSERM (2009-2011), McGill University Health Centre (2011-2014)
- Appointments: Faculty member at UQAM since 2014
His research program, funded by CIHR, FRQ-S, and Canadian Foundation for Innovation, explores:
- Immuno-metabolic regulation of Th17/Treg balance in HIV
- Role of mucosal immunity in viral persistence
- Impact of cannabinoids on HIV-associated inflammation
- Cardiovascular comorbidities in aging HIV patients
Recent publications highlight trends in:
- 2024: Treg dysfunction in HIV elite controllers
- 2023: Cannabinoid trials for HIV reservoir reduction
- 2022: Pulmonary immune dysregulation as HIV reservoir
Scientific recognition:
- CIHR New Investigator Salary Award (2016)
- FRQ-S New Investigator Salary Award (2016)
He supervises a research team including graduate students Omar Farnos-Villar, Sharada Swaminathan, and Alexis Yero-Diaz, conducting translational studies at the BioMed Research Centre.
