Mohamed Machmoum serves as a University Professor and Head of the IREENA Laboratory at the University of Nantes, based at the Saint Nazaire site. He is affiliated with Polytech Nantes, the engineering school of the university, where he works within the Department of Electrical Engineering.
His research interests span several critical areas in modern electrical engineering, with focus on renewable energy integration, electromechanical systems, and fault-tolerant conversion chains. The IREENA Laboratory he leads encompasses multiple research units including UTR 1 (Inductive Techniques in Complex Environments), UTR 2 (Optimal and fault-tolerant electromechanical and static conversion chains), and UTR 3 (Management of electrical energy systems with high integration of renewable energies).
As laboratory director, Professor Machmoum oversees research activities across these units along with the LabCom ICARE initiative. His work addresses contemporary challenges in energy systems, particularly focusing on the integration of renewable energy sources into electrical grids and the development of reliable power conversion technologies.
