Mohamed El-Erian is a Senior Global Fellow at The Lauder Institute and the Rene M. Kern Practice Professor at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is also the President of Queens’ College at the University of Cambridge and Chief Economic Advisor at Allianz. With a PhD in Economics from the University of Oxford and a BA from the University of Cambridge, El-Erian has held influential roles, including Deputy Director of the IMF, CEO of PIMCO, and Chair of President Obama’s Global Development Council.
His research focuses on global economic policy, financial markets, and systemic risks. Notable contributions include coining the 'New Normal' framework post-2008 crisis and analyzing central bank policies. He is a prolific author, with bestsellers like When Markets Collide and Permacrisis, and a frequent contributor to the Financial Times and Bloomberg.
El-Erian’s awards include four appearances on Foreign Policy’s 'Top 100 Global Thinkers.' He advocates for academic excellence, financial resilience, and global collaboration, currently campaigning to become Chancellor of the University of Cambridge to address institutional challenges and promote innovation.
