Miyong Yun

Miyong Yun is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioindustry and Bioresource Engineering at Sejong University since 2017. Previously, she worked as a Research Professor at Kyunghee University (2012-2016) and conducted postdoctoral research at UT Southwestern Medical Center (2009-2012). She holds a Ph.D. (2009), M.S. (1999), and B.S. (1997) from Korea University and Kangwon National University respectively.

Her research focuses on the roles of potassium ion channels in serotonin signaling, particularly their impact on colitis and colorectal cancer. She also investigates DNA damage response mechanisms in cancer (e.g., CBR1's role) and develops DNA aptamer-based solutions for environmental remediation of heavy metals and radioactive waste.

Recent publications highlight her work on bacterial toxin-induced epithelial damage, AXL inhibition for pulmonary fibrosis, and aptamer technologies for nickel/manganese removal. These studies reflect interdisciplinary applications in molecular biology, environmental science, and medical research.

Her expertise contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to cancer treatment (SDG 3: Good Health) and environmental remediation technologies (SDG 6: Clean Water). Collaborations span international institutions in biomedical and environmental domains.
