Mitchell Sarkies

Dr. Mitchell Sarkies is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at Macquarie University's Australian Institute of Health Innovation (AIHI), part of the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences. He holds an NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellowship and specializes in implementation science, healthcare policy, and large-system transformation. His research focuses on improving evidence-based care models for hip fracture, cardiovascular genetics, and lipid disorders, as well as enhancing telehealth and electronic service provision.

Education:

• PhD in Implementation Science (Monash University, 2019)
• Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy (University of Sydney, 2012)

Research Interests: Implementation science, healthcare resilience, value-based healthcare, weekend allied health services, and hospital avoidance programs for chronic conditions. He has pioneered novel trial designs, such as helix counterbalanced RCTs, and developed large-system implementation models for healthcare initiatives.
