Missy Olive is a Professor of Practice and Director of the BehaviorAnalysis@Simmons Program at Simmons University's Department of Behavior Analysis. Her work focuses on applied behavior analysis (ABA), particularly in serving individuals with autism and disabilities. She holds a PhD in Educational Psychology from the University of Minnesota (1999), an M.Ed. in Early Childhood Special Education from Vanderbilt University (1992), and a BS in Elementary and Special Education from Middle Tennessee State University (1990).
Her research emphasizes ethical issues in ABA service delivery, feeding disorders, severe challenging behavior, and clinical compliance. Over $1.6 million in grants has supported her research and training initiatives. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst at the doctoral level (BCBA-D) and licensed in multiple states. Notable publications include studies on effect size calculations, functional communication aids, and ethical dilemmas in ABA practice.
Missy Olive balances academic leadership with advocacy, serving as her brother Mac's guardian and championing inclusive practices in behavior analysis. Professional memberships include the Association for Behavior Analysis International and state-level associations.
