Misa Nishiyama, Ph.D. serves as a Research Fellow at the Burke Neurological Institute, an integral research division of Weill Cornell Medicine within Cornell University. She is formally affiliated with the Yoshida Lab, specifically contributing to the Laboratory for Neural Connectivity Development in Physiology and Disease, which investigates neural circuit formation in both healthy and pathological states.
Her research concentrates on fundamental neuroscience mechanisms, with specialized focus on neural connectivity dynamics, neurophysiological processes, and disease pathogenesis in neurological disorders. This work directly supports the institute's mission to address conditions including stroke, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury through understanding neural repair mechanisms.
As a core member of the Yoshida Lab, Dr. Nishiyama participates in Burke Neurological Institute's collaborative research ecosystem focused on translational neuroscience and neural recovery pathways.
