Mirko Pasquini is a Medical Anthropologist and International Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Uppsala University’s Centre for Medical Humanities (CMH). He holds affiliations with the Department of History of Science and Ideas and the Department of Cultural Anthropology and Ethnology.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology (2021), Uppsala University
Research interests focus on healthcare interactions, particularly mistrust in practice during the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, hospital overcrowding, triage, and violence against healthcare staff. His work explores how urgency and vulnerability are negotiated in emergency settings, emphasizing structural competency and equitable care distribution.
Recent publications analyze dynamics of mistrust, structural competency in violence prevention, and economies of attention in Italian emergency departments. Key themes include social justice, healthcare ethics, and the interplay of existential and economic precarity in clinical environments.

Collaboration: He collaborates with regional healthcare authorities in Sweden and Italy on projects addressing mistrust and structural competency in primary care, and contributes to training programs on structural determinants of health.
