Dr. Mirjam Hauck is Associate Head for Internationalisation, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at the School of Languages and Applied Linguistics, Open University. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a leading scholar in critical virtual exchange (CVE), focusing on equitable and inclusive online collaborative learning environments.
- President of the European Association for Computer Assisted Language Learning (EUROCALL)
- Chair of the Language and Culture Expert Community of the European Association for International Education (EAIE)
- Associate Editor of the CALL Journal and editorial board member of ReCALL and LLT
Her research examines how virtual exchange (VE) perpetuates systemic inequalities related to Western hegemony, technology access, institutional support, language dominance, and socio-political factors. She co-founded UNICollaboration.org and contributed to EU-funded projects like VAMOS, EVOLVE, and ERASMUS+ Virtual Exchange, alongside initiatives by the Stevens Initiative.
