Dangeni is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the School of Education, Anglia Ruskin University, working on the Volkswagen Foundation-funded InterCare project (2024-2028) examining intergenerational care relations in ageing knowledge societies. A mononymous scholar from an ethnic minority community in China, she specializes in inclusion and the experiences of international and minoritised cohorts in higher education.
Her educational qualifications include:
- PhD in Education
- MSc in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
- BA in English
Her research examines intersections of higher education, internationalisation, and inequalities through lenses of student engagement, student carers, inclusive pedagogies, and creative methodologies. She focuses particularly on Chinese international students' experiences in UK higher education, exploring both visible and invisible dimensions of engagement during crises like the pandemic.
Her publication portfolio demonstrates consistent focus on doctoral admissions processes, international student support systems, and innovative qualitative methods. Work spans critical analyses of institutional communications, supervisability concepts, and transitions frameworks, with strong emphasis on practical applications for equity and inclusion.
Dangeni leads significant collaborative initiatives including the InterCare Early Career Researcher network, Diary Methods Community, and Internationalisation Practitioner Network. These platforms bridge research-practice gaps through workshops, virtual summer schools, and community-building focused on international student mobility and researcher development.
Her grant portfolio includes four major projects addressing international student support (Newcastle University Education Enhancement Fund), inclusive environments (Newcastle University EDI Fund), and virtual knowledge exchange (European Network of International Student Mobility and University of Glasgow Chancellor’s Fund).
