Juan Alba Duran is a Lecturer and Researcher at the Faculty of Arts, University of Groningen. His primary affiliations include the Department of European Languages and Cultures, where he contributes to proficiency training in Spanish and intercultural education initiatives. He holds a Master in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language (UB/UG) and a BA in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Barcelona.
His research focuses on Virtual Exchange (VE) in higher education, telecollaboration projects, and second language acquisition. Key contributions include the EVOLVE Project addressing VE implementation across disciplines and the ENVOIE-UFRUG telecollaboration initiative linking Spanish students with international peers. He has developed online training programs for educators in Peru and across Europe, emphasizing digital pedagogy and international collaboration.
Alba Duran has presented at conferences such as IVEC 2020 and EuroCALL, exploring topics like virtual exchange design, intercultural competence, and digital tools for language learning.
