Kristi Jauregi Ondarra

Kristi Jauregi Ondarra is an Associate Professor at Utrecht University, affiliated with the Department of Languages, Literature and Communication under the Humanities College. She leads the Institute for Language Sciences' Language and Education research group, focusing on digital technologies in language education, including Virtual Reality and telecollaboration.

• Current projects: E-LIVE (2022-2024), exploring Virtual Exchange integration.
• Former projects: TeCoLa (2016-2019), TILA (2013-2015), NIFLAR (2009-2011), EUROVERSITY (2011-2014).

Her research spans:

• Virtual Reality applications for intercultural learning
• Telecollaboration and gamification in language curricula
• High/low-immersion VR environments for language acquisition

Recent publications analyze VR-mediated virtual exchange and pedagogical differentiation through gaming. She also contributes to the Language in the Digital Age book series (Peter Lang) and serves on the Unibasq Advisory Board (since 2022).
