Miriam Conti serves as a Researcher and PhD Candidate at the University of Bergen's Department of Linguistic, Literary and Aesthetic Studies. She actively teaches university-level courses including Old Norse Poetry (NOFI113) for Autumn 2024 and upcoming semesters, alongside Runology and Paleography (NOFI110) in Autumn 2025.
Her scholarly work centers on Eddic poetry prehistory and intertextuality through philological and paleographic methods. Key interests span historical linguistics, language acquisition, and Old Norse-Latin translations, with deep engagement in Viking Studies, Nordic languages, and Medieval Philology. Her research consistently examines semantic structures, textual transmission, and scribal practices within Norse manuscript traditions.
Analysis of her conference presentations reveals a methodological focus on Codex Regius and related manuscripts, with particular attention to Vǫluspá and Alvíssmál. Her work traces textual variants between manuscript traditions (Edda R vs Edda A), investigates scribal abbreviation patterns, and explores cultural contexts including feasting rituals and magical verse structures. This demonstrates a cohesive research trajectory connecting paleographic analysis with literary interpretation.
