Mireille Schnitzer is a Full Professor in the Faculty of Pharmacy at Université de Montréal, with a secondary affiliation in the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine at the School of Public Health. She holds the Canada Research Chair in Causal Inference and Machine Learning in Health Science. Her research focuses on developing advanced statistical methods for causal inference, particularly in the context of health data science, including targeted maximum likelihood estimation (TMLE), double robust estimation, and handling time-varying confounding. She has a PhD in Biostatistics from McGill University (2013) and completed postdoctoral training at Harvard University.
Dr. Schnitzer has led numerous grants, including a Canada Research Chair (2019–2025) and collaborations with institutions like the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ). She has supervised over 20 graduate students, focusing on topics such as vaccine effectiveness, tuberculosis treatment optimization, and pharmacoepidemiology.
Her work bridges methodological innovation and real-world applications, including studies on drug safety, chronic disease management, and public health interventions. She is affiliated with the Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM) and collaborates with global research networks in critical care and infectious disease epidemiology.
