Associate Professor Miranda Lai is a leading academic in the Translating and Interpreting discipline at RMIT University's School of Global, Urban and Social Studies (GUSS). She holds dual expertise in vocational training and higher education, combining academic rigor with industry engagement. Her research focuses on police interpreting, forensic transcription, vicarious trauma in language professionals, and pedagogical innovations in translation/interpreting education.
Key affiliations include serving as National Secretary of the Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators (AUSIT) and active membership in NAATI's Chinese Panel. She has received prestigious awards for research impact (2018 RMIT Early Career Award) and team engagement (2023 RMIT Impact Award). Her work bridges theory and practice through projects addressing language barriers in legal, health, and migration contexts.
