Prof. Miranda Jakiša is a full professor of South Slavic Literatures and Cultures at the University of Vienna since 2019, previously holding a professorship at Humboldt University Berlin (2008–2019). She leads the Department of South Slavic Literature and Cultural Studies, focusing on post-Yugoslav studies and multilingualism. As President of the Austrian Association of Slavonic Studies and Head of Südosteuropa-Gesellschaft Wien, she actively promotes Slavic cultural research.
Her research explores Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian literatures (18th–21st centuries), oral heroic traditions, and transnational cultural identities. Notable work includes analyzing Yugoslav partisan cinema and the role of resentment in cultural politics. She has held prestigious fellowships at Princeton University, University of Jena, and Slovenian Academy of Sciences.
