Christian Schmeiser

Christian Schmeiser is a Professor at the Faculty of Mathematics, University of Vienna. He is a founding member of the Vienna PDE Center (WPI) and Deputy Speaker of the Vienna Center for Partial Differential Equations. His research focuses on nonlinear PDEs, kinetic transport equations, and mathematical biology. He has led multiple research projects funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF), the Vienna Science and Technology Fund (WWTF), and the European Union.

His academic roles include leadership in doctoral programs such as the 'Signaling Mechanisms in Cellular Homeostasis' and 'Dissipation and Dispersion in Nonlinear PDEs.' He has advised over 20 PhD students, including notable researchers like Dietmar Ölz and Sabine Hittmeir. His work bridges theoretical analysis (e.g., hypocoercivity, asymptotic methods) and applications in cell biology and semiconductor physics.

Recent projects include modeling cell migration mechanisms, actin dynamics, and collective behavior in myxobacteria. He has contributed to numerical methods for hyperbolic conservation laws and stochastic processes. His research has been published in top journals like Archive for Rational Mechanics and Analysis and Journal of Differential Equations.
