Miranda Blackburn is an Associate Professor of Social Work at Concord University, affiliated with the College of Professional and Liberal Studies and the Department of Social Work and Sociology. She holds advanced credentials including a DSW from Millersville University of Pennsylvania, an MSW from West Virginia University, and a BA in Psychology from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Her research focuses on military and veteran populations, particularly addressing systemic issues in mental health, crisis intervention, and military social work practices. Notably, her doctoral dissertation analyzed the interplay between military suicide and societal structures. She actively contributes to professional standards through work on the CSWE Specialized Practice Guide for Military Social Work and serves as a Star Behavioral Health Provider Tier 1 Trainer.
Miranda is licensed in multiple states (LISW-S, LICSW, BCD) and holds certifications in Human Service Management and Psychological Autopsy Investigation. Her professional roles include service in the Army National Guard as a Behavioral Health Officer, shaping her expertise in correctional and military social work systems.
