Mira Dayal

Mira Dayal is a visual artist, writer, editor, and educator based in Brooklyn, NY. Affiliated with institutions including Barnard College, School of Visual Arts, and Parsons School of Design, she serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor and Part-Time Lecturer. Her practice intertwines sculpture, installation, and art criticism.

• Education: MA in Visual and Critical Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2024), BA in Visual Arts and Economics from Barnard College (2017, summa cum laude).

Dayal’s research explores the intersection of language and materiality, often interrogating structural systems through works like her 2025 solo exhibition Colloidal Bodies and the reCAPTCHA series. Her artistic publications (e.g., Instructions: 9 Sculptures, Language Object Index) and collaborative projects (e.g., Track Changes: A Handbook for Art Criticism) reflect her commitment to expanding art criticism.

Her exhibited works span institutions such as Princeton University, Spencer Brownstone Gallery, and Hessel Museum of Art, with recent 2025 solo shows at Ritual Spaces and Fuller Rosen Gallery. Dayal’s awards include grants from Critical Minded, William Talbott Hillman Foundation, and the European Institute at Columbia University.
