Minsoo Baek is an Associate Professor in the Construction Management Department at Kennesaw State University's College of Architecture and Construction Management. He serves as Director of the cross-disciplinary RAISE Lab (Resilient Architecture and Infrastructure for a Sustainable Environment), which integrates design, construction, and intelligent systems to address resilience and sustainability challenges in built environments.
His research focuses on data-driven methodologies including advanced statistical modeling, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to improve decision-making in construction projects. He investigates uncertainties across project lifecycles - from economic risks to environmental challenges - while pioneering sustainable construction practices through technologies like autonomous robotics and digital twins. The RAISE Lab fosters collaborations between architecture, civil engineering, and construction management disciplines.
- Ph.D. in Building Construction from Georgia Institute of Technology
- M.S. in Civil Engineering from Purdue University
- B.S. in Architectural Engineering from Yeungnam University
Recent sponsored research includes:
- 2023-2024: EPA-funded project on sustainable demolition practices education
- 2022-2024: GDOT project ($300k) on maintenance decision tree optimization
- 2020-2022: GDOT project ($260k) enhancing cost estimation accuracy
His work trends show increasing focus on climate adaptation, infrastructure resilience, and technological innovation in construction management. Current teaching includes graduate-level analytical tools and core construction management courses.
