Minnamari Vippola is a Professor of Materials Characterization at Tampere University, serving as Vice Dean for Research in the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences. She leads the Materials Characterization group within the Department of Materials Science and Environmental Engineering. Her research focuses on microstructural characterization, non-destructive evaluation (NDE), and materials processing, with expertise in electron microscopy and leadership of the Tampere Microscopy Center. Key administrative roles include membership in the Tampere University Science Council and steering groups for infrastructure and sustainability initiatives.
Research interests span advanced materials analysis, including additive manufacturing, steels, nanomaterials, catalysts, and tribology. She has organized major conferences like ICBM15 (2024) and Scandem 2022. Funding sources include the Research Council of Finland, Business Finland, EU, and industry collaborations.
Recent publications (2022–2025) highlight studies on fretting degradation, cold-sprayed composites, stress corrosion cracking, and magnetic domain behavior. Her work integrates microscopy, micromagnetic simulations, and advanced characterization techniques to address material performance and failure mechanisms.
