Minna Bogdanoff serves as a Project Researcher at the Centre for Applied Language Studies within the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Jyväskylä. Her professional activities focus on language education, particularly for immigrants and adult learners with limited literacy skills.
Dr. Bogdanoff's research interests center on developing effective pedagogical approaches for teaching language skills to immigrants and adults with limited literacy. She has extensively explored how technology, particularly smartphones and digital tools, can enhance language learning experiences for these populations. Her work addresses teacher training methodologies for educators working with immigrants and low-literacy learners, with a particular focus on the LESLLA (Low Educated Second Language and Literacy Acquisition) framework. Through her involvement in the Applied Language Studies follow-up group, she contributes to research on multilingual academic communication and language campus development.
Her publication record demonstrates a consistent trajectory focused on practical applications of language education theory. The majority of her work centers on developing and evaluating training models for language educators working with immigrants and adults with limited literacy skills. A significant thread throughout her research is the integration of technology into language learning, particularly examining how smartphones and digital tools can support multiliteracy development among adult learners. Her publications show strong collaborative patterns, frequently working with colleagues like Taina Tammelin-Laine and Heidi Vaarala.
Dr. Bogdanoff has been actively involved in multiple research projects, most notably the ARVO project focused on updating language teachers' assessment skills (2020-2021). Her research activities reveal consistent engagement with the academic community through conference presentations and collaborative research efforts, with documented activities spanning from 2017 to 2021. She participates in the Language Campus follow-up group that connects multiple departments including the Finnish Institute for Educational Research, Teacher Training School, Department of Language and Communication Studies, Centre for Applied Language Studies, and Department of Teacher Education.
