Mingxuan Fan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Real Estate at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School, with a joint appointment as Visiting Assistant Professor at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP). She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master in Public Policy from NUS.
Her research focuses on environmental and urban economics, particularly the effectiveness of environmental policies and regulations, and the impact of environmental factors on human capital and economic outcomes. Notable projects include studies on urban water conservation in Singapore (published in Nature Human Behaviour and Nature Water), and the effects of air pollution on labor supply in China.
Her work is characterized by interdisciplinary approaches combining policy analysis, behavioral economics, and quantitative methods. Recent publications address climate-resilient infrastructure, green-certified housing dynamics, and mortgage transparency policies. She has collaborated with institutions like the Asian Development Bank and contributed to policy discussions on sustainable urban development.
Before her academic roles, she served as a Research Associate at NUS (2009–2012) and a Project Assistant at the Asian Development Bank in Thailand (2008–2009). Her research has been cited in major journals and policy documents, reflecting its practical relevance to environmental and urban policy challenges.
