Professor Ming-Chien Sung is a Professor of Risk and Decision Sciences at Southampton Business School, University of Southampton, and Associate Director of the Centre for Risk Research. She holds a PhD in Management (2006) and MSc in Accounting and Finance (2001), both from the University of Southampton. Her research focuses on predicting and improving risk-taking and decision-making in financial markets through quantitative modeling, with expertise in Fintech, Big Data, AI, and behavioral finance.
She has secured over £3.5M in research funding, including £2.4M direct grants and £1.1M indirect industry support. Key roles include membership in professional bodies such as the International Institute of Forecasters, Royal Economic Society, and editorial roles in journals like Economic Issues. She supervises PhD students in areas like cryptocurrency analysis and risk modeling.
Her teaching spans undergraduate modules (e.g., MANG1008 Managerial Decisions) and postgraduate courses (e.g., MANG6134 Risk Taking and Decision Making).
