He holds a PhD in Finance from King's College London (2021), an MSc in Finance from Cass Business School, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the American University of Beirut. His work bridges academic and private-sector expertise in financial modeling, risk management, and market analysis across cryptocurrency and foreign exchange markets.
Research focuses on behavioral finance in digital markets, including trader psychology in ambiguous environments, herding behavior on social trading platforms, and cryptocurrency market dynamics. His studies address how visibility ('scopic regimes') impacts decision-making, disposition effects, and learning processes among traders. He explores market microstructures, price discovery mechanisms, and the interplay between sentiment and trading strategies.
Publications appear in leading journals like European Journal of Finance, Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, and International Review of Financial Analysis. Ongoing work investigates price discovery in cryptocurrency ETFs, transaction-level herding, and regulatory implications of decentralized markets. He collaborates with the Qatar Centre for Global Banking & Finance on central bank policy challenges.
With 12+ years in financial research and modeling, Roland advises on PhD candidates and contributes to FinWork Futures' exploration of financial technology's impact on professional practices. His cross-sector experience includes risk management and market-making roles in both traditional and crypto markets.
