Minerva Cordero is a Professor of Mathematics and Vice Provost for Faculty Success at The University of Texas at Arlington. Her research explores the intersection of algebra, combinatorics, and geometry, with focus on semifield theory and experimental design.
Education includes:
- Ph.D. in Mathematics, University of Iowa
- Advanced studies in finite geometry and combinatorial design
Research addresses:
- Structural properties of finite semifields and quasifields
- Fractional dimensional geometries
- Transitive group actions in combinatorial designs
- Applications to coding theory and cryptography
Her 15 most recent publications demonstrate sustained focus on classifying semifield planes, developing dimension theory, and characterizing geometric structures. Work consistently bridges abstract algebra with statistical applications.
Awards and leadership:
- Presidential Award for Excellence in Mentoring (2022)
- Fellow of the Association for Women in Mathematics (2023)
- Director of multiple NSF grants including GK-12 MAVS Project ($2.8M)
Leads research groups in discrete mathematics and serves on the advisory board for the National Museum of Mathematics.
