Mindy Magyar is an Associate Professor in the School of Design at the College of Art and Design, Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). She holds a BS from Cornell University, an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art, and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania. Her expertise spans Indigenous Design, Sustainable Design, and Industrial Design, emphasizing participatory and user-centered approaches. She teaches courses such as IDDE-301 Junior ID Studio I, IDDE-311 Career Planning, and supervises graduate design studios and independent studies.

Her research and teaching focus on integrating sustainability, cultural relevance, and community engagement in design. Notable projects include collaborations with the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian and the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, as well as initiatives like the Water Protectors project and Wayfinding at Ganondagan State Historic Site. She also serves as Faculty Associate for AALANA Faculty, advocating for inclusive environments for underrepresented faculty at RIT.
Mindy has led multiple student capstone projects addressing complex societal challenges, emphasizing team-based, trans-disciplinary approaches. Her work often bridges design practice with social impact, such as projects in assistive technologies and museum shop design.
