Professor Min Zhang is a full-time faculty member in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, Faculty of Engineering. She was appointed as the first female professor in her department in 2021, after joining as a Reader in 2018. Prior to Strathclyde, she served as a Lecturer at the University of Bath and a Junior Research Fellow at Newnham College, Cambridge.

Her research focuses on the application of high-temperature superconductors (HTS) in transformative energy sectors, particularly aviation electrification, fusion, and renewable energy systems. She leads the Cryogenic Propulsion Lab, where her team develops advanced superconducting technologies for zero-emission air transport and sustainable energy conversion. Her work bridges materials science, electrical engineering, and cryogenics.
The most recent publications highlight a consistent focus on AC loss characterization in HTS coils, cryogenic power electronics using GaN transistors, and the design of superconducting motors for aircraft. These works span key subfields including thermal management, flux pump design, and comparative analysis of superconducting materials. The overarching theme is the integration of superconductivity into practical, high-efficiency systems for aerospace and energy applications.
