Min Zhan is a Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's School of Social Work, serving as Director of the Center for the Study of Global Gender Equity and an Affiliate of the Center for Social & Behavioral Science. She holds a PhD in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis (2001) and prior degrees in History from Peking University (BA, 1991; MA, 1994).
Her research focuses on low-income families' economic well-being, emphasizing financial asset development, human capital growth, and program evaluation. Current projects include evaluating education loans' impact on college graduation, assessing outcomes of elderly financial abuse interventions, and studying financial service utilization among low-income populations.
Her work intersects social policy, financial literacy, and socio-economic equity, with recent publications addressing diabetes care mediation, cardiovascular disease prevention, and asset-building policies. She collaborates widely on global gender equity and behavioral science initiatives.
