Professor Roslyn Russell is a Professor and Principal Research Fellow at RMIT University's School of Economics, Finance and Marketing. Her research focuses on financial wellbeing, economic abuse, and financial literacy, with a particular emphasis on vulnerable populations such as low-income households, older people, and individuals with disabilities. She has led multiple ARC-funded projects, including a recent Discovery Grant examining women's financial wellbeing in Australia. Her work bridges academia and industry, collaborating with government, financial sectors, and community organizations. She currently serves on the Australian Government Financial Literacy Board.
Her research explores topics like payday lending, saving behaviors, and the efficacy of financial education programs. Notable projects include evaluations of Wesley Mission’s financial literacy initiatives and the ANZ MoneyMinded program. She has authored impactful reports such as the Money Minded Impact Report and Saver Plus: A Decade of Impact.
Key contributions include defining frameworks for measuring financial wellbeing and addressing economic abuse in young adult relationships. Her interdisciplinary approach integrates behavioral economics, sociology, and policy analysis to inform practical solutions for financial inclusion and social equity.
