Baorong Guo is an Associate Professor and MSW Program Director at the University of Missouri-St. Louis School of Social Work. She holds a PhD in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis (2005), an MA in Sociology from Peking University (2000), and a BA in Social Work from China Youth University for Political Science (1997). Her research focuses on human service nonprofits, socioeconomic development, and asset-building strategies for low-income families. She leads the School of Social Work's Student Award Committee, Assessment of Educational Outcomes Committee, and Faculty Development Committee.
Guo has received awards including the Emerging Scholar Award from ARNOVA (2004) and the Chancellor’s Fellowship (1997). Her work examines organizational resilience in nonprofits, food security dynamics for individuals with disabilities, and policy impacts in China and South Korea. She has secured grants totaling over $1M for projects like 'Transition to Adulthood: Dynamics of Disability, Food Insecurity, and SNAP Participation' (2016) and 'Asset Building in China: Pilot Project and Policy Influence' (2008).
Her methodological expertise includes longitudinal data analysis, structural equation modeling, and policy evaluation. She teaches courses on Nonprofit Organizations, Multivariate Statistics, and Program Evaluation. Guo’s research bridges academic inquiry with practical policy solutions to address systemic inequities in social services and economic security.
