Mimi Yu is an Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), where she has taught Japanese courses since 2008. She previously served as Associate Director of the East Asia Institute (2008-2019) and as President of the Japan America Society of San Antonio twice.
Her research focuses on Japanese teaching pedagogy and instructional technology, including the development of Open Educational Resources (OER) for Japanese language courses. She has received multiple grants and awards, such as the Alan Bible Teaching Excellence Award, UTSA President’s Distinguished Diversity Award, and the Diversity First Award from the Texas Diversity Council.
