Johansson's research focuses on Arctic Art and Design, with notable work in glass art, sustainable product design, and nature-inspired design. Her projects often involve collaborations with international institutions like the Iceland University of the Arts, Glasshytta Blåst, and École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, emphasizing climate-responsive design and environmental impact assessment in Arctic contexts.
Recent artistic outputs include the Arctic Glass Design and Art series (2024), which explores atmospheric phenomena through glass, and Poroputeli (2023), a climate-themed installation. Her exhibitions frequently use water-mediated and nature-inspired techniques, often involving reindeer antlers and snow as design tools.
Johansson actively engages in transnational academic exchanges, including visiting researcher roles at Design Academy Eindhoven (2019) and Signify N.V. (2019). Her work appears in 59 peer-reviewed research outputs, with significant contributions to the Arctic Art and Design master's program funded by the European Social Fund (2015-2018).
