Milena Tripkovic is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology and Associate Director for Internationalisation at the Scottish Centre for Crime and Justice Research (SCCJR) at Edinburgh Law School. She joined the University of Edinburgh in 2019 after teaching at the University of Birmingham, University of Kent, and University of Novi Sad.
- Education: PhD and MRes in Political and Social Sciences from the European University Institute; MSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Oxford; MPhil and LLB from the University of Novi Sad.
Research Interests intersect law, criminology, and political philosophy, focusing on criminal disenfranchisement, citizenship deprivation, hate crimes, and comparative criminal justice systems. Her book Punishment and Citizenship (OUP, 2019) redefines electoral rights restrictions for offenders.
Recent Articles explore global neo-colonial penality, democratic backsliding, and communicative punishment theories, reflecting her expertise in punishment ethics and transnational justice trends.
