Mikkel Bolt Rasmussen is a Professor at the Department of Arts and Cultural Studies, Faculty of Humanities, University of Copenhagen. His research critically examines the intersection of art, politics, and revolutionary traditions, with a focus on avant-garde movements, contemporary fascism, and protest cultures. He has authored seminal works translated into multiple languages, including Late Capitalist Fascism and Trump's Counter-Revolution.
Research Focus
Rasmussen's interdisciplinary work spans:
- Historical and contemporary analyses of fascist aesthetics
- Global avant-garde movements and their political legacies
- Theory of insurrection and anti-capitalist protest cycles
- Marxist critiques of cultural production and visual politics
His 2025 publications demonstrate a concentrated analysis of rising authoritarianism globally, dissecting Trumpism, fascist evolution, and avant-garde responses to political collapse. Thematically, they reveal persistent engagement with crisis, hegemony resistance, and revolutionary cultural strategies.
