Miki Yagi is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of International Literary and Cultural Studies at Tufts University’s School of Arts and Sciences. She holds an MA in Japanese Studies from The Ohio State University (2007) and a BA in English from Kansai Gaidai University, Osaka, Japan (2002). Her research and teaching focus on Japanese linguistics, pedagogy, and curriculum development.
Yagi has received recognition for teaching excellence, including Harvard University’s Certificate of Teaching Excellence (2015, 2016) and a Tufts University Significant Impact Nomination (2019). She specializes in Japanese language education at the undergraduate level, offering courses such as Elementary Japanese, Intermediate Japanese, and Reading & Conversation.
Before joining Tufts in 2016, she served as a Preceptor in Japanese at Harvard University (2013–2016) and a Visiting Lecturer in Japanese at Williams College (2010–2013). She also held an adjunct role at Kanazawa Institute of Technology in 2010.
