Mikhail Noginov

Dr. Mikhail A. Noginov is a Professor of Physics at Norfolk State University (NSU) within the College of Science, Engineering and Technology. He is affiliated with the Department of Physics and Center for Materials Research, and leads the Noginov research group working on advanced optical phenomena.

• Education: Ph.D. in Physical-Mathematical Sciences (General Physics Institute of USSR Academy of Sciences, 1990), MS in Electronics and Automatics (Moscow Institute for Physics and Technology, 1985)

His research focuses on Nanophotonics, Metamaterials, and Plasmonics, investigating light-matter interactions in weak and strong coupling regimes. His group explores applications in optical cloaking, spontaneous emission control, and chemical reaction manipulation using nanostructures.

Publications demonstrate expertise in surface plasmon confinement, hyperbolic metamaterials, and electromagnetic wave engineering. Key themes include enhanced light-matter coupling, nanoscale optical control, and interdisciplinary applications beyond traditional electrodynamics.
