Dr. Mike Stannett is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computer Science at the University of Sheffield, where he serves as Sustainability Lead. His research bridges theoretical computer science and physics, focusing on the Logical Foundations of Relativity Theory, Unconventional Computing, and Isabelle/HOL verification of physical theorems.
- Key research areas: Relativity, Hypercomputation, Membrane Systems, General Topology, and Formal Verification
- Grants: EPSRC-funded Hypercomputation Research Network, Royal Society grant for relativity verification, RCUK project on Bitcoin risk modeling
- Professional memberships: London Mathematical Society, AISB, CiE, British Society for the Philosophy of Science
His recent publications explore spacetime geometry, faster-than-light particles, and hypercomputation’s theoretical limits. Notable collaborations include work with Hungarian researchers (Andréka, Madarász, Németi, Székely) and the Foundations of Computation group.
