Dr. Mike Price is an Associate Professor at Coventry University's Centre for Physical Activity, Sport and Exercise Sciences. His research focuses on thermoregulation, upper body exercise, spinal cord injury physiology, and sodium bicarbonate supplementation. He holds leadership roles including Chair of the Physiology and Nutrition Division at the British Association of Sport and Exercise Science (BASES).
Education: PhD in Exercise Physiology (Manchester Metropolitan University, 1997), MSc in Biomedical Engineering (University of Dundee, 1993), BSc Human Movement Science (University of Liverpool, 1992).
Research emphasizes thermal physiology in athletes with spinal injuries, aging populations, and elite sports. He has authored BASES Expert Statements on upper body exercise and sodium bicarbonate use. Recent work explores exercise applications for fall prevention and transplant athletes. Over 125 peer-reviewed publications and 10 supervised research projects highlight his academic contributions.
External roles include serving as external examiner for multiple UK universities' sports science programs and participating in international conferences on sports medicine and exercise physiology.
