Dr. Mike Peng is the O. P. Jindal Distinguished Chair Professor of Organizations, Strategy, and International Management at the Naveen Jindal School of Management, University of Texas at Dallas. He holds a PhD from the University of Washington and a B.S. from Winona State University. His research focuses on global strategy, international business in emerging economies, and the institution-based view of strategy. Key contributions include seminal work on China's global business strategies, innovation strategies in emerging markets, and the role of institutions in shaping competitive dynamics.
His research has been published in leading journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, and Strategic Management Journal. Notable publications include The Institution-Based View as a Third Leg for Strategy Tripod (2009) and Global Strategy (textbook), which are widely cited and influential in academia and practice. His work has been recognized by the United Nations and World Bank, and he has received prestigious awards including the NSF CAREER Award and the Journal of International Business Studies Decade Award (2015).
Peng’s teaching spans undergraduate, MBA, and PhD levels, with expertise in strategic management, global business, and international management. He has advised over a dozen dissertations, many of which have led to academic careers at top institutions.
