Mike Miller Eismeier is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Vermont (UVM), within the College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences. Previously, he served as the Ritt Assistant Professor at Columbia University. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from UCLA (2019), advised by Ciprian Manolescu. His research focuses on gauge theory, low-dimensional topology, and homological algebra. He teaches courses such as Abstract Algebra III (Math 6995), covering categories, modules, and homological algebra.
Education: Ph.D. in Mathematics from UCLA (2019). Office location: Innovation E233. Office hours: Monday 12-1PM and Friday 3-4PM. Email: Mike.Miller-Eismeier@uvm.edu. Personal webpage available here.
Research interests include gauge theory applications to 3- and 4-manifold topology, homological algebra methods in geometric topology, and symplectic embedding problems. His recent work explores connections between instanton homology and cosmetic surgeries, integral rigidity phenomena in Seiberg-Witten theory, and hyperplane configurations in abelian groups.
